MICHELANGELO FILM

Since 2004 – Production and distribution of cinema and audiovisual products.

Michelangelo Film was born from the creative will of Massimo Spano – director, screenwriter, set designer and producer – with the aim of developing and distributing international cinematic and television works.

Over the years, the company has produced and distributed films, documentaries, and television series, participating in the most prestigious international festivals: Venice, Annecy, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Rome, and Biarritz, receiving awards such as the Jury Prize at Annecy, the 2019 Nastro d'Argento, and the 2019 City of Venice Award.

Michelangelo Film believes in cinema as a universal language, capable of uniting memory and contemporaneity, Italian roots and openness to the world.

Our mission is to produce stories that speak of identity, freedom, and transformation, with a bold artistic vision and always attentive to visual and narrative quality.

Massimo Spano

Massimo Spano is an eclectic author who has made cinema and audiovisual media his preferred medium. His career began as a production designer, designing over eighty films for Italian and international directors, and then expanded into directing and writing, where he established a distinctive and personal voice.

​

As a director, he made two feature films, eleven television miniseries for Rai Uno, and several documentaries, establishing himself as a storyteller capable of moving between the great Italian tradition and contemporary experimentation.

His work has been screened at major international festivals, from Venice to Annecy, from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and even Rome and Biarritz. His awards include the Jury Prize at the Annecy Film Festival, the Audience Award in San Francisco, the Jury Prize in Los Angeles, the 2019 Nastro d'Argento, and the 2019 City of Venice Award.

Founder of Michelangelo Film, Spano has chosen to combine the artisanal experience of cinema with a production vision open to the world, building a path that intertwines authorship, research, and civic engagement.

 

His works stand out for their attention to memory, social conflicts, and the poetic dimension of images, bringing intense and universal stories to the public.
